Within her first solo show, ‘MIASMA’, Absalom explores the idea of a climate apocalypse .

Absalom intertwines A chronic fear of environmental doom with the fatalistic dogma of religious writings.

 Symbolism and iconography from Medieval and Renaissance painting is transmogrified into a style lending from classical science-fiction to merge together the ancient, and the yet-to-come.

THE PENCIL AND CHAROCOAL DRAWING, RIGHTS OF A GODHEAD, WAS EXHIBITED AT THE DEKALB GALLERY, NEw york. the oil paintings bad dog and red room were exhibited at the new glasgow society.

FEATURING THE WORK OF OVER 60 ARTISTS, CROSSING A MULTITUDE OF DISCIPLINES, INCLUDING FILM WORK, INSTALLATION, ANIMATION, PAINTING, DRAWING AND PRINTMAKING.
THE ARTWORK EXHIBITED BY ABSALOM COMPRISED OF A DIPTYCH PIECE: TWO 1x1m OIL PAINTINGS ON FOUND WOOD. THE PAINTINGS ARE REIMAGININGS OF AN ELIZABETH I AND a PAPAL PORTRAIT, EMPHASISING THE GROTESQUE ELEMENTS OFTEN UNDERLYING IN ICONOGRAPHIC AND REGAL PORTRAITS. AT THE TIME, THE ARTIST WAS INVESTIGATING IDEAS OF CULT VISION, RELIGIOUS HEGEMONY AND THE SYMBOLIC PERFORMATIVITY OF DOGMATIC HAND GESTURES WITHIN THE CHRISTIAN FAITH, AND THEIR DIFFERING MEANING WITHIN ALTERNATIVE CULTURAL AND HISTORICAL CONTEXTS.

A GROUP EXHIBITION ORGANISED BY 15 FINE ART STUDENTS, STUDYING AT THE BEZALEL ACADEMY OF ARTS AND DESIGN, ISRAEL, AS PART OF A STUDY EXCHANGE PROGRAMME.


THE PROCESS OF THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE ARTWORKS WAS VITAL TO THE OUTCOME OF THE EXHIBITION, AS EACH ARTIST PRODUCED A PRELIMINARY IDEA FOR AN ARTWORK, WHICH, BY PROCESS OF RANDOM SELECTION, WAS PASSED ON TO ANOTHER ARTIST TO WORK INTO OR CREATE SOMETHING INSPIRED BY, FOR THE PERIOD OF ROUGHLY A MONTH.

A GROUP EXHIBITION DISPLAYING WORKS ACROSS THE DISCIPLINES OF PAINTING, PRINTMAKING, COLLAGE, AND SCULPTURAL INSTALLATION, DISCUSSING THE COMMON THEMES OF FOLKLORE, MYSTICISM, TRADITION, AND FEMININITY.
AT THE TIME, ABSALOM WAS INVESTIGATING THE JEWISH CHARACTER OF LILITH, THE ORIGINAL, AND NON-SUBSERVIENT WIFE OF ADAM, AND HER ROLE WITHIN BOTH A THEOLOGICAL, AND POST-FEMINIST CONTEMPORARY CONTEXT.
THE RESULTING WORK EXHIBITED BY THE ARTIST WAS: 'GENESIS', LITHOGRAPH ON A3 SOMERSET PAPER, AND 'A LILITH OF SORTS', OIL PAINTING ON PRIMED CANVAS BOARD.
